NFL Wins Pool – Fantasy Football by Team Wins
August 24, 2017 by
This article is for informational purposes only. This format is no longer offered as a systematic online leaderboard offering.
Overview
Our NFL Office Pool format is different than your typical fantasy football experience. With an NFL Wins Pool, each person simply chooses the teams that you think will get the most wins and use their records at the end of the season to determine the champion.NFL Office Pool Example
(Bill is leading with 15 points):Setup your NFL Office Pool today by clicking the link below and entering the teams that each of you pool participants have chosen. Our website will calculate the standings each week automatically for everyone to view as desired.
How to Play
- Determine how many people will be in your pool and how many teams they will draft. It's nice to draft as many teams as possible from the NFL. For example, if you have 6 people in your pool you could each draft 5 teams.
- Determine draft order. You can draw names from a hat and then use the snake method, or use the method that Bill Simmons mentions in his NFL Wins Pool article .
- Draft teams
- Enter draft results on our Create Page.
- Send players your personalized URL where they can view live standings as games complete each week.
Scoring
- 2 points for a win
- 1 point for a tie
- 0 points for a loss
At the end of the regular season add all your points to determine the winner. Whoever has the most points wins.
Cost
Free for pools with 4 or fewer entries
$20 for pools with more than 4 entries
Other Wins Pools
We also host NBA, NHL, and MLB wins pools of the same format, so check back to our create page at the start of those professional seasons.Your Thoughts

curious when the draft results will be viewable for the league. I can see the Wins results in admin mode but others can’t. Thanks!
Hi Kye – The leaderboard is viewable right now. Click the Leaderboard link from your admin screen or in your confirmation email, which you can share with everyone in your pool. Or you could have them click “VIEW” and enter your pool number to see the leaderboard, which will start populating wins once the regular NFL season begins.
Hope that helps! -Sean
Is the NFL wins pool going to go live soon?
Hi Mike – These are live now. Thanks for your patience. -Sean
Hey, wondering when this will be available for 2019…thanks!
Hi Cary – These are live now! -Sean
I am getting a lot of blow back for the half point awarded to PIT and CLE for a tie in our wins pool. Any rationale for giving teams points when they didn’t get a ‘win’?
Hi Josh – Our system counts ties as .5. We will consider adding a new configuration option for next season. Thanks for reaching out. -Sean
NFL pickem game. no line. players simply select the winner of each game every week. each win is one point which pays weekely and overall for the year. In pools of this type, some also include confidence points ( sure bet the highest level of points and thus the “not sure” lowest level. Believe yahoo has this type of pool
Appreciate this suggestion Michael! We’ll add that to our list of formats to build out. -Sean
I agree with this, but with the spread incorporated too. Any chance of that coming for this NFL season?
Thanks for the suggestion Tim! We don’t have any current plans for adding spreads but will add it to our list. -Sean
Looking for a pool I had located a couple years ago. 3 NFL teams are randomly assigned. Those are your teams for the season. The winner each week is the one with highest total points. Do you know if this one?
Hi – We don’t currently have that format, but sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing! – Sean
Can you have the option to add text up top to make notes to the league?
Also, can you have an 11th team spot for the dummy team (only has 2 teams)? Many leagues have the dummy teams and there is a penalty for losing to the dummy.
Hi Dave – You can have a dummy team. You can have any number of teams over 2 … customizable by the pool admin. Unfortunately we don’t have a notes to the league section, but will add it to our request list. Thanks for reaching out! – Sean
I am the admin and I do not see an option to allow for 2 teams, it forces me to pick 3 teams for the dummy if I want to hit save. What am I missing?
Can Players in the pool share a team? For example;Bob likes Seattle and So does Randy. can they both use seattle?
Yes, the same team can be owned by multiple players. Hope that helps!
Hi Sean –
What have you done with ties in this pool? Are you counting them as a half win or does each team get a zero? A point of much debate in a league I’m in as it wasn’t addressed on the front end.
Hi Matt – Ties count as a half point. Hope that clarifies! – Sean
Is there a you could make this a configuration option? Our participants are pretty adamant that a tie is not a win, so should be worth zero. Given the two ties in the first two weeks, it would be nice to have the option to either award 1/2 point for a tie or 0 for a tie depending on preference of the given pool.
Hi Brett – Unfortunately we don’t have the configuration option. Ties will count as .5. We will consider adding that for next season
Hey. I love this site and have used it for years. In the NFL pools last year you used the teams helmets instead of a block of color. The helmets were better. I’d love if you changed it back.
Hey Tony – Thanks for the feedback! We changed it to the colors to get more readability across smaller devices. Hope you can still enjoy the site! – Sean
What happens when the teams you draft play against one another? Do the win/lose go towards your record?
Hi Storm – Yes, all wins/losses count towards your record. Hope that helps! – Sean
Will this be working/updated for 2016/17 season? The rams are still shown as St Louis
Hi Scott – This is updated as LA Rams. Hope that helps!
Question – What happens when playoff time comes around? Do the wins pools keep going or do they end at the regular season end?
Hi Chris – Points only go through the end of the regular season.
-Sean
